FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

7/12/2024 – Lincoln, NE

Nebraska Liberal Party was founded June 16th in response to voter disenfranchisement from the establishment parties. The next day, Nebraska Liberal Party created a Facebook page which began garnering interest on the social media platform from people across the political spectrum. Within hours, Facebook flagged the Liberal Party USA website url www.LiberalPartyUSA.org, as spam and promptly unpublished the Nebraska Liberal Party Facebook page.

Now more than ever, people feel disenfranchised by politicians who do not well represent the people who elect them. Since the choices have been limited to politicians running as establishment party candidates, many Nebraskans either stopped voting, changed their registration to independent, or started voting for candidates being promoted by third-parties. This reality makes the Facebook blacklisting all the more perplexing and concerning during another election cycle with unpopular candidates from the establishment parties.

“Voters are disenfranchised with the status quo. Social media outlets instigate that dissatisfaction by feeding partisanship and suppressing free speech,” Trisha Butler, Chair of Liberal Party USA and Missouri resident said. “The need for a truly liberal party that is devoted to independence and equity has never been as vital as it is right now. The Liberal Party USA is committed to preserving the founding principles of the United States.”

Nebraskans are ready for a multiparty system which would better represent everyone’s interests. With so many people being unhappy with the two choices forced upon them, the new challenge party is well timed and offers solutions that are more appealing to those who consider themselves moderate or are underwhelmed by what is being offered by the outdated political system.

“Liberal means being open to new ideas while promoting science and innovation, individual rights, civil liberties, our Constitutional Democratic-Republic system, welcoming immigrants and refugees, being responsible with taxpayer money, and supporting entrepreneurship and Nebraska businesses,” explained Schuyler Windham who serves as the Chair of Nebraska Liberal Party.

“The other parties want more government control over our lives, but Nebraskans want a political party that respects the worth and dignity of every person and is serious about policy change,” she said. “I’m proud to serve alongside fierce advocates, candidates, and former elected officials who left the establishment parties or were politically homeless to promote peace, liberty, and justice for all people together.”

Nebraska Liberal Party believes everyone should be represented and that the government has overreached its authority, spending money it does not have with very little in the way of transparency or oversight which makes many voters angry and frustrated. Liberalism supports increasing the number of opportunities for individuals to improve their own lives while contributing to our communities by promoting free markets and trade, more choices in currency, reducing taxes and inflation on struggling families, encouraging charitable foundations and nonprofit organizations, and limiting hurdles and fees to help support local, small businesses.

Nebraska Liberal Party advocates for reducing barriers to immigration which will in turn help Nebraska agriculture and reduce the national deficit. The new party will run candidates who defend Constitutional rights at every level of office while also seeking criminal justice reform and holding the government accountable to due process and equal protection.

“Liberal Party is a new party for a new generation who are sick and tired of the games the establishment parties play with Nebraska voters,” Windham said. “We reject cronyism and corporate special interests in the political system and instead want servant leaders elected to office who will respect every person’s right to live a self-defined Good Life.”

Liberal Party hopes to find common ground on freedom issues and promote civil discourse between the other polarized elected officials to better represent liberty leaning moderate Nebraskans who care about both personal and economic freedoms.

“Voters deserve more options,” Windham said. “We shouldn’t have to choose between which freedom will be violated by two bad options on the ballot. We want people in office who will work across the aisle to solve the root issue instead of deepening the divide such as how former Nebraska State Senator Laura Ebke was able to do in the Unicameral.”
